General Surgery Hub is a free educational platform built for general surgery trainees. It brings case preparation, board prep notes, emergency management, and landmark evidence together in one accessible resource.
Our goal is to make it easier for residents to prepare for the OR, build their general surgery knowledge, respond to common emergencies, and understand the evidence that shapes the specialty.

General Surgery Hub is built to support residents throughout their training—from preparing for tomorrow’s operation and reviewing for the ABSITE and boards to managing emergencies and understanding the landmark literature behind clinical practice.
Built on the ABS / SCORE blueprint
Notes, cases, and evidence are organized to mirror the American Board of Surgery certifying exam content outline and the SCORE curriculum, so studying here maps directly onto what the boards expect.

Ali Dzhemiliev, MD
Founder & Editor-in-Chief
Ali Dzhemiliev, MD, is a surgical research fellow at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He completed two years of general surgery residency training at Brigham and has a background in surgical education, global surgery, and clinical research. He founded General Surgery Hub to make high-quality, evidence-based surgical education practical and accessible to trainees worldwide.
Veli Bakalov, MD
Chief Product Officer
Veli Bakalov, MD, is a hematologist and medical oncologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper and an Assistant Professor of Medicine. He is the founder of HemeOncBuddy, a digital education platform. As Chief Product Officer, he contributes to the platform's development, digital strategy, and educational innovation.
